Meet Our Founder
In 2006, James Coleman recognized a critical gap in Richmond's support services—too many organizations, too much red tape, and people falling through the cracks. His solution was creating Community Access & Supportive Services, Inc., a 501(c)(3) designed to connect those in need with essential resources.

Under James' leadership, our organization has spent over 15 years breaking down barriers to services across medical, financial, environmental, and mental health support systems.
The Vision Behind Community Access & Supportive Services, Inc.
James Coleman's journey began when he identified a critical gap in Richmond, VA's community support landscape. He witnessed firsthand how bureaucratic barriers prevented vulnerable individuals from accessing the help they desperately needed.
His revolutionary concept was simple yet powerful: create a single organization that could connect people with multiple resources while eliminating the red tape that often discourages those seeking assistance.

Our support includes assistance with food, clothing, housing, medical care, legal aid, transportation, education, tutoring, mentoring, life coaching, substance abuse support, and many other services. What sets our organization apart is our unwavering commitment to seeing the person behind the need. We believe everyone deserves access to vital resources regardless of their financial circumstances.
