Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms before using our website or requesting our services. They explain how our site and community programs work.

Effective date: October 14, 2026

The Short Version

  • Our website shares information about our services and helps you contact us. It is not an emergency service.
  • We connect people with community resources, but services are provided through sponsors and partners, so we cannot guarantee any particular outcome.
  • Eligibility is prescreened, and the criteria are set by the sponsoring organizations, not by us.
  • Information on our site is general and is not legal, medical, or financial advice.
  • Donations are voluntary and are generally non-refundable.

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of https://www.caass2011.com/ (the "Site") and to the community outreach services described on it. The Site is operated by Community Access & Supportive Services, Inc. ("CAASS," "we," "us"), a nonprofit organization serving Richmond, Virginia and the surrounding area. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Statement. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

In an emergency? Please call 911. If you or someone you know is in a mental health crisis, call or text 988. Our website, forms, and email are not monitored around the clock and should not be used for emergencies.

1. About Our Services

CAASS helps connect individuals and families with community resources such as food, clothing, housing assistance, utility support, legal aid referrals, transportation, education, mentoring, and other support. We are a connecting organization. Many services are delivered by sponsoring establishments, partner organizations, and volunteers rather than by CAASS itself.

2. Eligibility and Prescreening

All requests for assistance are prescreened. Eligibility criteria are set by the sponsors and partner organizations that provide each service, and we use them to match you with the right resource. Submitting a request does not guarantee that you will receive a particular service, a specific amount of assistance, or any assistance at all. Availability depends on funding, supplies, partner capacity, and eligibility.

3. Accurate Information

When you contact us or request services, please give accurate and complete information. Providing false or misleading information may result in your request being declined or your assistance being withdrawn.

4. Referrals and Third-Party Services

When we refer you to a partner organization, sponsor, attorney, or other provider, that organization is independent of CAASS. We do not control their services and are not responsible for their decisions, quality, availability, or conduct. Your relationship with them is separate, and their own terms and policies apply. This includes referrals to pro bono legal assistance. CAASS is not a law firm, and a referral does not create an attorney-client relationship with us.

5. No Professional Advice

Information on this Site is provided for general informational purposes. It is not legal, medical, mental health, financial, or other professional advice, and it should not replace consultation with a qualified professional about your situation.

6. Donations

  • Voluntary gifts. Donations are voluntary, and you may give money, food, clothing, furniture, or other items by phone, email, or online.
  • Use of funds. We use donations to support our mission and programs. Unless you tell us otherwise in writing before giving, we may direct gifts to the areas of greatest need.
  • Online payments. Online donations are processed by a third-party payment processor [e.g., Stripe, update as applicable] under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Refunds. Donations are generally non-refundable. If you made a donation in error, contact us as soon as possible and we will review your request.
  • Receipts and taxes. We provide acknowledgment of your gift on request. Please consult a tax advisor about the tax treatment of your donation.
  • Donated items. We may decline items that are unsafe, damaged, or that we cannot use or distribute.

7. Volunteers

Volunteers give their time without pay and are not employees of CAASS. By volunteering, you agree to follow our reasonable instructions, treat the people we serve with dignity and respect, keep personal information you learn through your volunteer work confidential, and tell us right away if you have a concern about safety. We may decline or end a volunteer relationship at any time. [Add any waiver, background check, or training requirements here.]

8. Events

We host events such as food distributions, workshops, and resource fairs. Dates, times, locations, supplies, and sign-up requirements may change or be canceled without notice. Participation may require advance registration, and items are provided while supplies last. By attending, you agree to follow staff and volunteer directions and to treat others respectfully. We may remove anyone whose behavior is unsafe or disruptive. We may take photos or video at events for use in our outreach and communications, and you can ask us to exclude you or your family by telling a staff member on-site or contacting us in advance.

9. Acceptable Use of the Site

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • Break the law or violate the rights of others
  • Submit false, misleading, or harassing messages
  • Upload viruses, malicious code, or anything that disrupts the Site
  • Try to access areas, data, or accounts you are not authorized to use

Please do not send Social Security numbers, bank details, or detailed medical records through website forms or email.
